About Charlotte

I’ve been labeled as a jazz guitarist, a fingerstyle folk guitarist, an accompanist, a soloist and even a vocalist. In truth, I simply love the guitar and I play any music that moves me.

I was hooked on Chet Atkins’ guitar style in my formative years, and I still gravitate toward fingerstyle chord melodies and moving basslines. But I also love playing jazz standards and can get equally lost playing leads on my electric guitar or revisiting a Bach invention.

I have a holistic approach to playing and teaching that was born out of the physical and emotional challenges that I experienced as a professional female guitarist in the ‘70’s. In my quest to resolve the problems I faced, I learned to tune into my body, and I became well-versed in proper body use while playing. Since that time, I’ve continued to study anatomy and the musculoskeletal system. I have also been a devoted student of neuroscience and the mind-body connection. I now use the  wisdom I acquire in these areas to help my students avoid or resolve both physical pain and musical stagnation.

My days are filled with playing and teaching guitar, writing articles, posts and books, working and playing with my horses, and enjoying time in nature.
