Charlotte has been one of my greatest teachers (and I have had a lot of them). Before meeting her, my guitar practice had plateaued, despite having worked at it for years. She helped me to rediscover the love of learning, and gave me a roadmap for mastery that delivered real results.

Throughout my journey with Charlotte, Ive been continually impressed with her expansive knowledge of music. Not only is she a master at guitar, she is also incredibly strong at vocals, piano, theory, and many other areas. While I began working with her to improve my guitar skills, she has really been a comprehensive mentor, helping me to become a more rounded musician in general. I have learned the fundamentals of proper practice, which has empowered me to take a bigger ownership role in my skill development.

If you’re looking for someone to meet you where you are, and patiently guide you to higher levels of mastery, Charlotte will take you there.

This is kind of my second association with Charlotte, after about 44 years where I focused on a career and played sporadically. My interests in learning continue to focus on Jazz standards. I’ve watched who are able to build a song by listening, but they couldn’t tell me how they did it, or what they were doing. In a recent lesson with Charlotte, we figured out the progression I had been working from wasn’t right. Right there, Charlotte found the version I liked, started listening and built the progression in front of me, explaining what she was doing and how she was keeping the progression in the same fretboard range. I am totally impressed. Don’t think I’ll be able to do it any time soon, but I understand what she was doing, and the need to spell chords, and know the fretboard. I love what she does,, and how she coaches me.

I’ve never taken lessons online and was a little hesitant to do it since all my lesson experience has always been the old school, in person variety. I’m so glad I did though. It’s so much more convenient and efficient. Charlotte makes it fun and very effective. Every lesson is so productive. I am learning a lot and it feels so good to be making progress.

Charlotte has been my friend, mentor, and teacher for years. Through private and group lessons Charlotte has helped me understand things about the guitar that didn’t make sense to me before, using her vast understanding of musical perspectives and backgrounds. She is a patient and understanding teacher who will guide you straight, both technically and musically, with an acute attention to detail and deep awareness of every player’s unique abilities. Charlotte is adventurous and playful with the music she takes very seriously. She is never afraid to expand one’s horizons. She once taught me a crucial lesson in rhythm by instructing me to put down the guitar for a while and pick up a hand drum. Charlotte doesn’t limit her teaching to one style of guitar. She incorporates all components of her knowledge into a well-rounded lesson. She has a very natural and go with the flow approach to teaching, and will always meet the student exactly where they are at each lesson.

Charlotte teaches you how to LEARN guitar. She knows a lot about music and playing guitar, but the beautiful thing is that she is attentive to what you require and she teaches you how to be attentive to that too. That is so valuable. Every time I pick up the guitar to play I am making use of something she taught me and it continues to grow. So there is a lot of depth in what she does and you really can’t exhaust it. I could not have gotten that from a video or a book.

I’ve been doing Skype lessons with Charlotte and it has been amazing. I have not only improved in playing the ukulele, but I have also drastically improved in my singing over the months I have done the Skype lessons. My sister and I have learned to play together and Charlotte has created ways that our ukulele and guitar sound amazing and unique together. Charlotte is so kind and patient with me and she is so intelligent with music. It is so fun to show her my new songs that I have learned and show her how much I improve over the week. I always look forward to get on Skype and play the ukulele. I have learned so much and I will learn so much more in the future.
